Mean Girls
by Miss Movies
Hit– Starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Tina Fey, Tim Meadows. Screenplay by Tina Fey
Cady Heron (Lohan) has been raised in Africa since she can remember. Once her family has to return to America , and Cady has to attend a local high school, it is time to put her Darwin’s survival of the fittest theory to the test. Cady joins the Plastics and begins to see that school social hierarchies are all about who you can defeat. When Cady realizes that the leader of the Plastics (Regina played by McAdams) tries to repeatedly manipulate Cady, she in turn decides to use manipulation to bring Regina down. This causes Cady to become a “Mean Girl. While I do not believe that Lindsay Lohan is the best thing since sliced bread, I do feel that this girl has talent and will be around for a long time. This movie shows us a few other up and coming stars, including Rachel McAdams. Rachel is also featured in the summer blockbuster The Notebook. I feel this movie is a clear social commentary of high school that has a lot of truth. The three way calling sabatoge, the slam book, talking behind each other’s backs, etc. It makes me never want to go back to high school. The one problem I had with this movie was the character played by Tina Fey. There is no way that a high school teacher would wear, act, or speak in the manner in which her character does. Bottom Line: Every high school student should see this movie. And any boy that loves Lohan, this is a great movie to oogle her goodies.
Best Scene: The Halloween party where Lohan dresses as the ugly witch.
Rated PG-13 for sexual content, language and some teen partying.

Envy
by Miss Movies
Miss- Starring Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Christopher Walken
Tim (Stiller) has always felt that his best friend Nick (Black) has his head in the clouds when it comes to get-rich-quick ideas. But one day Nick’s idea actually becomes a reality. Nick becomes a quick millionaire and Time becomes jealous of his bests friends success when Nick creates “vapoorize.”
This film should “vapoorize.” Not only was this “claimed” comedy not funny, it was the exact opposite of funny (for those of you who only went to ’some’ college the opposite of funny is not funny). I found myself becoming envious of those who were seeing a different, more entertaining movie. The only saving grace to this movie was Christopher Walken’s character J-Man. Bottom Line: Envy is to funny as TV’s Joey is to un-cancelled.
Best Scene: Tim takes his family on a camping trip.
Rated PG-13 for language and sexual/crude humor.

Godsend
by Miss Movies
Miss - Robert DiNiro, Rebecca Romjin-Stamos, Greg Kinnear
As two parents mourn the loss of their 8 year old son Adam, Doctor Richard Wells propositions the couple to clone their dead son. Things start to change as their cloned Adam passes the age of the original Adam’s death. Cloned Adam suffers from night terrors and becomes evil.
This movie was so bad I fell asleep. If the movie were more interesting or moved a little faster, I would have been entertained and therefore I wouldn’t have fallen asleep. Bottom Line: A not scary snooze fest.
Best Scene: The part where I fell asleep.
Rated PG-13 for violence including frightening images, a scene of sexuality and some thematic material.
Running Time: 1 hour 42 minutes

Laws of Attraction
by Miss Movies
Hit- Starring Julianne Moore, Pierce Brosnan, Parker Posey, Frances Fisher
Two of New York’s top divorce attorneys have met their match… each other. Daniel Rafferty (Brosnan) and Audrey Woods (Moore) are constantly in competition. Then one day, a romance starts to blossom. This romance makes them competitive and they find themselves both lobbying for the top divorce case in the city.
No objection here! This comedy is loaded with laughs and good old fashion fun. Moore is beautiful and incredibly believable as New York City’s top attorney. Parker Posey offers fantastic comical interjections. And Pierce Brosnan is every woman’s eye candy. It’s a good thing he is a good actor because it makes him even more likeable. Bottom Line: Make a date to see this movie.
Best Scene: When Audrey and Daniel wake up in a trailer in Ireland.
Rated PG-13 for sexual content and language.
Romantic Comedy
Running Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

13 Going on 30
by Miss Movies
Hit- Starring Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer
Jenna Rink (Garner) is turning 13 years old. To escape the birthday blunders that take place at her house, Jenna locks herself into her closet and wishes she was 30 years old. The next morning Jenna wakes up as a 30 year old woman who works and lives in NYC. In order to figure out what has happened to her, Jenna tracks down her old friend Matt (Ruffalo) to provide some assistance. This movie has all the elements of a fun/date night flick. I really enjoyed watching this movie because I really felt like there was a 13 year old girl trapped inside a 3o year old woman’s body. Jennifer Garner (although annoying at times) is vibrant and lights up the screen. Judy Greer plays the girl that everyone went to middle school with (the girl you love to hate) and proves that most girls don’t change. One complaint about this movie: The scene where everyone dances to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It really doesn’t work, I am sorry. You should have cut this scene because it really takes the audience out of the film and makes us think, this would never happen. Bottom Line: Doesn’t compare to Big but it is still a lot of fun.
Best Scene: When Jenna wakes up as a 30 year old woman for the first time.
Rated PG-13 for some sexual content and brief drug references.
Running Time: 1 hour 38 minutes

The Punisher
by Miss Movies
Miss- (what were they thinking?) Starring: Thomas Jane, John Travolta, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (or no Stamos?)
FBI Special agent Frank Castle finds himself in a position to punish those who have murdered his entire family. Sounds like a really uncool Kill Bill.
Picture yourself in 1989. Ahh… The Punisher starring Dolph Lundgren. You know if a movie has Dolph Lundgren as the top billing actor there is trouble. So, why on earth would you ever remake a movie that is only 15 years old? Yes, it was bad the first time around, so maybe someone (aka Jonathan Hensleigh) thought: I can do it better! No you can’t Jonathan! This movie should have never been made. I feel as though I am being punished for having to watch it.
There is nothing more to say. Bottome Line: Bad, bad, bad.
Best Scene: When Popeye arrives (you will understand when you see it, but you shouldn’t see it because it sucks).
Rated R for pervasive brutal violence, language and brief nudity.

Kill Bill: Vol. 2
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox. Directed by Quentin Tarantino. Written by Q & U
Just when you thought Tarantino’s directing has peaked… you were wrong. This film proves that Tarantino is back and he means business. Every shot in this film was carefully planned, performed, and perfected. Kill Bill: Vol. 2 answers all of your questions from Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
Kill Bill: Vol.2 picks up where Kill Bill: Vol.1 left off. The Bride (Thurman) continues her journey of revenge. Only three targets remain, but the journey is not going to be an easy one. This film shows us the reasons behind The Bride’s killing adventure. There is also a key element introduced in the final scenes of the movie that give new meaning to The Bride’s adventures.
There are many moments in this film that make the audience laugh, get excited, and feel extremely uncomfortable (those of you who do not like small spaces know what I mean). Tarantino has directed a beautiful film. So, what’s up next Q?
Best Scene: So many to choose from, but I really enjoy when The Bride trains with Pai Mei.
Rated R for violence, language and brief drug use.

Ella Enchanted
by Miss Movies
Hit- Starring Anne Hathaway, Carey Elwes, Minnie Driver, Hugh Dancy
Ella (Anne Hathaway) has been given the gift (or curse) of obedience from her Fairy Godmother Lucinda. Therefore Ella must obey anyone who tells her to do something. Shortly after her mother passes away, Ella’s father marries a horrible woman with two awful daughters (one who learns Ella’s spell and uses it to her advantage). Upset by being used, Ella sets out to reverse the “curse.” The movie is about her journey to find Lucinda and her adventures (including falling in love with a prince).
This movie is overall charming and will leave you feeling good. It is a fantasy film that incorporates fairies, leprechauns, Giants, and Ogres. Included in the film are fun musical numbers and an exciting ending. You will want to watch this film over and over again! Bottom Line: Rent Ella Enchanted and make it a family night.
Best Scene: The Leprechaun welcoming.
Rated PG for some crude humor and language.

Home on the Range
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Roseanne, Steve Buscemi, Carole Cooke, Judi Dench, Jennifer Tilly
Patch of Heaven Farm is in danger of being sold at auction. Three cow-girls set out to save their farm from the evil Alameda Slim.
Great comedy for the whole family! The animation is astounding (this isn’t Pixar folks, this is good old fashioned animation), and the animals have excellent character. I loved every minute of this movie.
Roseanne’s verbal portrayal of Maggie isn’t on par with the rest of the cast. Judi Dench, Steve Buscemi, and Jennifer Tilly all rise to the occasion and allow their voices to become the characters. Bottom Line: Take home Home on the Range.
Best Scene: When the farm animals attack Alameda Slim.
Rated PG for brief mild rude humor.

The Prince and Me
by Miss Movies
Miss - Starring Julia Stiles, Luke Mably
A pre-med college student (Paige) falls in love with a Danish exchange student. Little does she know, he is a Prince.
This movie is drab. Awful. Not exciting. I would like to see more about her adventures with the Prince in his homeland rather than their school romance. This plot is tired. I hope to never see anything of this nature ever again.
Best Scene: When the Prince partakes in the lawn mowing contest.
Rated: PG for some sex-related material and language.
Comedy
Running Time: 1 hour and 51 minutes (way too long for this boring cup of tea)
