USC 42 - WSU 12
by Miss Movies
You know it is a good game when they bring in the second string. Washington Unable to Score - Great job USC defense. I extend a shout out to Britney Spears; who managed to make an appearance at the game. Although Spears is not a Trojan, or a college student (ever), we still appreciate the support.

Birth
by Kristen Reeves
Miss - Starring Nicole Kidman, Lauren Bacall, Cameron Bright
Birth is a story about a woman, Anna (Nicole Kidman), who loses her husband. Ten years pass and a young boy says he is her husband, Sean, reincarnated.
I knew this movie was going to be bad from the opening scene. The first scene showed a man running for literally 10 minutes. It never changed camera angles. It was the same shot for seemingly forever.
The story was also very weak. What was made to probably be a serious movie, was actually quite comical at times. The acting was also boring. I felt there was no emotion, which made the slow movie even slower.
Another scene in this film was similar to the first one described above. The camera stayed on Nicole Kidman’s face for 5 minutes. I kept waiting for emotion to change or something to happen and nothing did!
There was no climax in the movie and it ended suddenly. I almost fell asleep and I was tempted to walk out numerous times. Bottom Line: Don’t waste your money even when it comes out on DVD.
Best Scene: Not Applicable.
Rated R for sexuality.
Drama (but unknowingly comedic)
Running Time: 1 hour 40 minutes

Saw
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Cary Elwes, Leigh Whannell, Danny Glover, Monica Potter
A serial killer named “Jigsaw” convinces people to try to save themselves, or die trying. Most of the “Jigsaw’s” victims end up in the morgue, but the point of the game is to realize the value of your life, and save your life, before you die a horrible death.
A bone chilling thriller. This movie will make you jump out of your skin because of it’s haunting premise. To think that someone could drive another person to kill themselves is outright horrifying. I felt this movie could have been served with a better title. The title “Saw” doesn’t really make me think. The first thing that comes to mind is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This movie does not have anything that remotely resembles the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Cary Elwes delivers an excellent performance. Leigh Whannell gives a great performance of being a bad real life actor. The funniest thing in real life is running into people who are bad real life actors. Leigh does a great job of portraying those people we occasionally run into everyday. Danny Glover is always excellent and this film is no exception to the rule. Monica Potter does not play a large role in this film but she does a good job of looking like she is a scared cat.
Bottom Line: This movie will make you think, and it will creep you out. If your stomach can handle it, see this scary movie.
Rated R for strong grisly violence and language. (edited for re-rating; originally NC-17)

Sideways
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church, Virginia Madsen, Sandra Oh
As a marriage present to the Jack (Church), Miles (Giamatti) takes him on a week long road trip through Southern California’s wine country. Their adventure brings more excitement than they had anticipated.
An original comedy of “errors” that never lets up. I truly enjoyed this film because of it’s ability to make laughs out of the most awkward situations. This movie mainly appeals to males and females anywhere from 25-40 years old. Bottom Line: Don’t expect much and you will end up having a great time.
Comedy
Rated R for language, some strong sexual content and nudity.
Running Time: 2 hours 3 minutes.

The Grudge
by Miss Movies
Miss (get over it already, you’re dead!) - Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jason Behr, Bill Pullman, Clea DuVall, William Mapother, and some crazy child who likes to meow.
By sheer coincidence, Karen (Gellar), an American nurse in Tokyo, is assigned to help assist a fellow American at her estate. When Karen arrives at the mysterious house, she notices a supernatural negative presence. The supernatural presence that Karen has been exposed to is determined to harm, and kill, anything in it’s path.
Yawn. I personally came out of this movie with my own grudge. This grudge was against the movie producers and the box office for false advertisement. Trailers and television spots make this movie look like an interesting horror film that will leave the viewer thinking about this premise for awhile. But in reality, this movie was a rip off of The Ring or Ringu. Not only was it a chore to watch (I knew there was a problem when I wanted the movie to be over within the first 15 minutes).
Whenever I see Sarah Michelle Gellar I think of the song Frosty the Snowman because of her “button nose.” I just want to touch her nose because it looks fun. Overall, Mrs. Gellar-Prinze did a fine job in her portrayal of Karen. Jason Behr, William Mapother, Clea DuVall, and Bill Pullman all gave excellent performances. This means the real fault lies in the writing and directing. This is a circle story that goes nowhere. At the end, you find yourself right back at the beginning, which makes the movie less scary and more annoying. Bottom Line: Get over it already, you’re dead!).
Best Scene: Opening with Bill Pullman
Rated PG-13 for mature thematic material, disturbing images/terror/violence, and some sensuality.
Horror
Running Time: 1 hour 36 minutes

Seth Green ~ the new Kevin Bacon
by Miss Movies
In my eyes, Seth Green is the Kevin Bacon of our time. Seth and Kevin share the same number of items listed in their actor filmography, yet Seth is 16 years younger than Kevin, making him capable of surpassing Kevin Bacon’s filmography. Kevin began his career in his early twenties whereas Seth made his first big screen debut at 10 years old.
Rate of film/television items per year:
Green: 2.75
Bacon: 2.11
In terms of the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon (which I believe will soon be changed to the 6 Degrees of Seth Green), Kevin Bacon and Seth Green can be linked by a Bacon number of 2.
Seth Green was in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me with Tim Robbins.
Tim Robbins was in Mystic River with Kevin Bacon.
or
Seth Green was in America’s Sweethearts with Julia Roberts.
Julia Roberts was in Flatliners with Kevin Bacon.
or
Seth Green was in Without a Paddle with Burt Reynolds.
Burt Reynolds was in Starting Over with Kevin Bacon.
or
Seth Green was in Knockaround Guys with John Malkovich.
John Malkovich was in Queens Logic with Kevin Bacon.
or
Seth Green was in Pump Up the Volume with Christian Slater.
Christian Slater was in Murder in the First with Kevin Bacon.
or
Seth Green was in The Italian Job with Charlize Theron.
Charlize Theron was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon.
Why the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon? Kevin Bacon is notorious for starring in films that are heavily dependent on a large cast of characters. Some of his ensemble films include: Animal House, She’s Having A Baby, Flatliners, He Said, She Said, JFK, A Few Good Men, Sleepers, Wild Things, and Mystic River.
Starring in movies featuring a large cast is not a foreign concept to Seth Green. Some of his films include: Austin Powers Films, Can’t Hardly Wait, Enemy of the State, Italian Job, America’s Sweethearts, Rat Race, and Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
The real question becomes, when will Seth Green and Kevin Bacon be in a movie together?

Taxi
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Jimmy Falon, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Esposito, Gisele Bundchen, Anne-Margret, Christian Kane
Police officer Washburn(Fallon) has been stripped of his liscence, due to a horrible driving record. In order to solve a string of bank robberies, Washburn must team up with experienced cabdriver Belle (Latifah). Washburn and Belle find themselves in a cat and mouse chase around New York City.
What do you get when you mix a straight laced cop with a wild and crazy cab driver? Laughs, laughs, and more laughs. I realize that this movie was not well received by my fellow movie critics but there is one thing that separates me from them… a generation (maybe several, depending on their age). For those people who are in the age range of 35 and younger I would highly recommend this comedy of errors. Jimmy Falon delivers an over-the-top performance which is easily brought down by Queen Latifah’s cool karismatic character. This duo is dynamite. Ann-Margret plays Fallon’s likeable drunk mother provides many comedic moments. The plot of this movie is simple, but the characters make this movie very likeable.
Bottom Line: A movie to be enjoyed by the 35 and younger crowd.
Good fun movie theatre antics: A row of 6th graders sat in front of us at this movie. One point towards the end of the movie a boy poured his entire bucket of popcorn on the boy sitting next to him. It was extremely hilarious.
Rated PG-13 for language, sensuality and brief violence.

I Heart Huckabees
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin, Mark Wahlberg, Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, Naomi Watts
A conflict over control of an Open Spaces Conservation Organization that battles Urban Sprawl, creates a rivalry between Albert Markovski (Jason Schwartzman) and Brad Strand (Jude Law). This conflict is intercepted by Vivian (Lily Tomlin) and Bernard (Dustin Hoffman), two existential detectives. Vivian and Bernard attempt to solve a coincidence and create harmony in the life of those who are suffering.
I Heart Huckabees is a bizarre film from start to finish. Jason Schwartzman’s acting is heavily overshadowed by the acting of Mark Wahlberg, but don’t take my word for it, see it for yourself. Tomlin and Hoffman are a great duo. Bottom Line: If you enjoyed films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, or Being John Malkovich, you will enjoy this film.
Best Scene: *Pictured below* When Tommy Corn (Mark Wahlberg) begins his rant about “petroleum problems” and Brad interjects, “I drive a BMV SUV and I love it!”
Rated R for language and a tasteless sex scene
