Hit – Starring Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Regina King
This is the life story of Mr. Ray Charles Robinson. Ray takes us on a journey of the beginnings of Ray Robinson and continues through his music career, his family life, and his bad habits.
I didn’t think that Jamie Foxx was that extraordinary in the movie Collateral but I found him more than extraordinary in his portrayal of Ray Charles. Mr. Jamie Foxx has indeed shown us his range of comedy and dramatic type genres.
The movie overall had a great flow with flashback interludes that were placed unakwardly throughout the movie. The best part of the whole movie is the music. Ray Charles created some great songs, but for some reason, I cannot seem to find “Georgia on my mind,” on iTunes… what’s going on iTunes, I can find every other artist, just not Ray Charles. Aye.
Kerry Washingtong and Regina King provide strong performances alongside Jamie Foxx. Bottom Line: A great film of our time. I also believe that Jamie Foxx deserves the 2005 Oscar.
Best Scene: I personally like the flashback where Jamie Foxx talks to his mother.
Rated PG-13 for depiction of drug addiction, sexuality and some thematic elements.
Drama
Running Time: 2 hours 32 minutes. Just a little too long!
