I’m “Lost”
by Miss Movies
Starring- Matthew Fox, Naveen Andrews, Emilie de Ravin, Jorge Garcia, Maggie Grace, Josh Holloway, Malcolm David Kelley, Daniel Dae Kim, Yoon-jin Kim, Evangeline Lilly, Dominic Monaghan, Terry O’Quinn, Harold Perrineau Jr., Michelle Rodriguez, Ian Somerhalder, Cynthia Watros, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaie
I think it is time I say good night and good luck to the series that is “Lost.” After watching the two hour season finale, I have to say that I was extremely disappointed.
If “Lost” is going to end the season focusing on a minor character they should have focused on Henry Gale and his back story. That would have been a lot more interesting than focusing on Desmond. Don’t get me wrong, I feel the Desmond background was important and needed to be addressed but certainly this could have been done the week before the finale. The finale should have focused on a character from the Dharma Inititave or the Hanzo corporation which would have given viewers something to think about over the summer. Unfortunately “Lost” writers saw otherwise.
By the end of the episode, I really didn’t care that Sawyer, Jack, and Kate were gagged. I didn’t care that the button wasn’t pushed, I didn’t care that – even though he is the smartest person on the island-people still don’t listen to Sayid, I didn’t care that possibly Locke and Echo died, and I certainly didn’t care about the four-toed statue. The statue made me believe that the survivors are on “Skull” island and the statue was paying homage to King Kong, but that is just a fleeting fun thought.
So, unless “Lost” has some spectacular idea to jump start season four, I have to say so-long. It has been great, and I know you will make an excellent DVD collection someday. Best of luck with keeping viewers tuned in.

The Da Vinci Code
by Miss Movies
Hit – Starring Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen
Synopsis courtesy of IMDB.com: A murder inside the Louvre and clues in Da Vinci paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years — which could shake the foundations of Christianity.
This is an action packed adventure that puts the subject of religion on the line. Watching this movie was just like reading the book. Every new scene was the equivalent to beginning a new chapter in the book. Overall, and interesting fictional story with murder, mystery, and questions lurking around every corner.
I would compare this movie to that of National Treasure in terms of characters seeking the truth and treasure, but I believe that National Treasure is a little more exciting and less profound in overall content.
I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I heard Tom Hanks would be playing Robert Langdon (simply because the character in the story was 10-15 years younger) but I felt he did a great job in his portrayal, and the entire cast was well received. It will be interesting to see if he signs on to do Angels and Demons which is also written by Dan Brown and features the character Robert Langdon for a second time.
Favorite Scene: The trust business owner who is willing to sell his (real) Rolex for 30 pounds in order to keep his cover as a truck driver.
Action
Rated PG-13 for disturbing images, violence, some nudity, thematic material, brief drug references and sexual content.
Running Time: 2 hours 29 minutes.

Poseidon
by Miss Movies
Hit – Starring Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfus, Emmy Rossum, Mike Vogel, Jacinda Barrett, Jimmy Bennett, Kevin Dillon, Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson
On New Year’s Eve, the “Poseidon” – a luxury ocean liner, capsizes after being swallowed by a rogue tidal wave. The survivors are left to fight for their life as they attempt to escape the sinking ship.
This movie is different from the original in a few different ways. First, the original was more character driven. You actually really cared about the characters and the sacrifices they made in order to survive. The remake starring Josh Lucas is more action driven. You don’t really care about the characters but you do want them to get out of sticky situations- because they make you feel like you are part of the action which tends to make the audience nervous. Second, the original featured talented actors and actresses such as Gene Hackman, Red Buttons, Shelley Winters, and the list goes on. The remake features seasoned actors such as Richard Dreyfus, and Kurt Russell. Josh Lucas (not yet a seasoned actor) provides an interesting co-leader of the group. But the supporting cast is where the rest of the film falls short. The other characters provide fluff and no real interesting backstory to make the audience care about them. Third, the original featured an escape route that went opposite of the bow(?) of the boat. With the survivors attempting to breakthrough 1 inch thick steel. The remake has the survivors attempting to exit out of the propeller shaft. This provides an interesting updated exit.
The main character of this movie is simply called “action.” It is this alone that makes the movie a successful remake. Had the action been sub-par then this movie would have sunk. But the special effects and acts of peril make it hard for the audience to catch a breath. Because of this, I have to consider this movie to be a successful remake.
Best Scene: Climbing up the vents.
Biggest difference from the original: No Gene Hackman character that drives the film.
Action
Rated PG-13 for intense prolonged sequences of disaster and peril.
Running Time: 1 hour 39 minutes.

You can’t hide – Michael Rosenbaum
by Miss Movies
For those of you who thought you saw Michael Rosenbaum in the audience of American Idol- well, your eyes were not fooling you. It was indeed him. Although his hair is growing out since the wrap of Smallville season 5, but don’t let that fool you.

Mission Impossible 3
by Miss Movies
Hit – Starring Tom Cruise, Keri Russell, Michelle Monaghan, Ving Rhames, Billy Crudup, Laurence Fishburne, Phillip Seymore Hoffman
Secret agent Ethan Hunt (Cruise) trains new IMF recruits, and has retired from active duty… until today. Hunt is called back into the field to bring down uber-villian Owen Davian (Hoffman). Davian is an international weapons / information provider who is more like an evil robot- since he obviously lacks any iota of compassion. Davian’s most recent mission- to obtain the “rabbit’s foot.” In order to do so, he must crack Hunt. In attempting to do so, Davian will use Hunt’s fiance as leverage.
Mission Impossible 3 is by far the best of the Mission Impossible films. It is a non-stop action thriller, that keeps your heart beating fast. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is a good villian. He is almost too good because he is so bad.
So, what is the “rabbit’s foot?” I think it is the same thing that Lex Luthor is trying to keep out of Smallville ~ an uber-virus that will ultimately wipe out the entire human race.
Bottom Line: Great entertainment.
Best Scene: Bridge Scene.
Action/Adventure
Rated PG-13
Running Time: 2 hours 6 minutes

Scary Movie 4
by Miss Movies
Miss – Starring Anna Faris, Craig Bierko
A satire focusing on such films as War of the Worlds, The Grudge, Saw, and The Village. The following synopsis is from IMDB.com : Cindy finds out the house she lives in is haunted by a little boy and goes on a quest to find out who killed him and why. Also, Alien “Tr-iPods” are invading the world and she has to uncover the secret in order to stop them.
Also featured in the film, Shaquille O’Neil, and Dr. Phil.
This film doesn’t know where to quit. The one and only Scary Movie that was funny was the first Scary Movie. Each time I see a new one come out, I think… maybe this one will be ok, like the first one. But, no. I am tired of watching films that try to make you laugh time after time, but throw their jokes out of proportion. Unless you like poo-poo and pee-pee jokes (and you are 6) you will not like this movie. Don’t waste your time over this piece of garbage.
Best scene: Opening sequence with Shaquille O’Neil and Dr. Phil; the end scene with Oprah and Tom – by far the only funny sequences in the entire film.
Comedy/Satire
Running Time: 1 hour 23 minutes
Rated PG-13 for crude and sexual humor throughout, some comic violence and language.
