Charlotte’s Web
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Dakota Fanning, Julia Roberts, Dominic Scott Kay, Steve Buscemi, Sam Shepard
Based on the children’s book of the same name, Charlotte’s Web follows Wilbur’s journey of survival. In order to make sure he is not Christmas dinner, Wilbur devises a plan with Charlotte (the farm spider) to ensure that Wilbur will be safe.
This movie was a great depiction of the book. I really enjoyed seeing the story pages come to life on the big screen. The animals in the story were charming as well as the actors. This story is good for children of all ages.
I particularly missed one scene in the film where Templeton says to Wilbur, “I don’t want to get stepped on, kicked in the face, bruised, or lacerated. Just watch what your doing when they go shovin’ you in Mr. Radiant.” How can such famous words be left out of the live action version of the story?
Bottom Line: Charlotte’s Web is a “Radiant” film.
Family
Rated G
Running Time: 1 hour 37 minutes.

The Holiday
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Jack Black
An L.A. based movie trailer editor and a British writer find themselves wanting to live a day in someone elses shoes. They decide to swap houses. In doing this, they discover love.
Although this Holiday provides an interesting premise, the story is more suited for at home viewing as this movie is quite long for a “rom-com.” I found the character played by Kate Winslet to be the more interesting character but unfortunately the movie was mostly based on Cameron Diaz’ character. The ending leaves the audience to their own interpretation as to what will happen next, but personally, I don’t really care enough to wonder if things will work out or not. Bottom Line: Entertaining but nothing special. Look for a special apperance by my favorite “Office” boy John Krasinski.
Romantic Comedy
Rated PG-13 for sexual content and some strong language.
Running Time: 2 hours 18 minutes

Deja Vu
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Denzel Washington, Paula Patton, Val Kilmer, James Caviezel
An ATF agent learns he is able to travel back in time in order to save a woman from being murdered, and to stop a ferry from blowing up. During is journey he ends up falling in love with the woman he needs to save.
I saw this film on a Friday night after I had been working all day at school and I found myself horribly exhausted. I must confess that I was able to view the first act and the third act but I fell asleep for the second act. That being said, I would like to endorse this film as one of the better films of the year. Deja Vu incorporates a level of time travel that I really enjoyed. I feel that more critics did not endorse this film because of the fact that they simply did not understand the ending (which, wasn’t that hard to comprehend but I digress). Honestly, if you can’t comprehend the idea of the time travel brilliance that is Deja Vu, then you simply don’t have what it takes to understand most time travel movies.
Overall this movie had a perfect mixture of talent (Denzel, hello!), story (to save the damsel in distress), and action (most scenes in the film are action packed for our entertainment).
And yes, I will see it for a second time just because of the irony. Bottom Line: See it twice.
Action
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and terror, disturbing images and some sensuality.
Running Time: 2 hours 8 minutes
