Night at the Museum
by Miss Movies
Miss - Starring Ben Stiller, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Owen Wilson, Robin Williams
From IMDB.com-
A newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc. -
Unfortunately, this movie does not have a fluid plot which makes the overall story quite lacking in interest. But, the idea of the movie provides a lot of laughs and fun for the family.
Bottom Line: Not a great story but an adventure that children will like.
Comedy / Fantasy
Rated PG for mild action, language and brief rude humor.
Running Time: 1 hour 48 minutes.

Rocky Balboa
by Miss Movies
Hit - Starring Sylvester Stallone, Milo Ventimiglia, Geraldine Hughes, Antonio Tarver
Rocky Balboa makes the decision to come out of retirement to face the current heavyweight champion Mason ‘The Line’ Dixon.
Rocky Balboa is a feel good movie that has heart. It wasn’t the best movie this year but it was entertaining. This would be a great ending to a long running movie franchise. Hopefully this is Rocky Balboa’s last fight, but who knows. Rocky’s son (Milo) could take over the franchise if he decides to bulk up and take over for Sylvester.
Bottom Line: Not bad.
Action
Rated PG for boxing violence and some language.
Running Time: 1 hour 42 minutes.

The Pursuit of Happyness
by Miss Movies
A bland Hit - Starring Will Smith, Jaden Smith
Based on a true story, Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is a struggling salesman who is forced out of his home while trying to embark on an incredible employment opportunity with Dean Witter. To make matters worse, his wife has left him to take care of their only son (Jaden Smith).
The story of Chris Gardner is heartbreaking and heroic at the same time. Unfortunately, the movie focuses more on the areas of heartbreak and less on the areas of triumph. Once we get to the point where Chris Gardner finally feels like he has made a difference, the movie ends. Thus, leaving the audience with a feeling of happiness but at the same time, a feeling of emptiness. The climax of the movie wasn’t enough to make audiences stand up and cheer.
Will Smith and his son Jaden do a great job in portraying father and son on-camera whilst still holding true to their characters. I think it would have been more interesting if the movie portrayed Chris Gardner’s son at the correct age when their family downfall started. It would have been interesting to see how Chris Gardner was able to manage a toddler rather than a boy who was of school age.
Bottom Line: This movie has heart, but not a lot of soul.
Drama
Rated PG-13 for some language.
Running Time: 1 hour 57 minutes.
