Miss Movies <3 YouTube

I’ve made a wonderful discovery of a vibrant community and I feel the need to share it with you. Up until late 2011, I didn’t even know that YouTube movie reviewers existed. Now that I have discovered them, I am continually impressed with the content they present.

My purpose in writing this blog entry is to let YOU know that the YouReviewers Awards will be coming out soon. This is where the YouTube Movie Review community comes together (orchestrated by the Schmoes and Jeremy Jahns) to nominate and award their Oscar-like picks for the year. You will be seeing at least 5 of my favorite YouTube movie reviewers on this show as well as others.

In no particular order I would like to present your YouReviewers:

5. Grace Randolph – Beyond the Trailer (because movie critics can’t be trusted). Grace helps you dissect the movie industry and gives a behind the scenes look at movie gossip and audience reactions. Plus she’s cute – so check her out.

4. Jeremy Jahns – I think I will call him JJ just because I like to annoy people. So JJ is awesome because his pacing is amazing – I like things to be short and to the point – and I find JJ’s witty humor to be exactly up my alley. At almost 66,000 subscribers – the man must be doing something right. He also does video game reviews for those who partake in that extracurricular activity. He also enjoys the most recent video game installment of Mortal Kombat – and if you know me, you know the significance of MK in my life. If you don’t know me, you’re welcome to ask – if you’re interested.

3. Chris Stuckmann – I’ve had the pleasure of talking with Chris over Skype and am looking forward to having him on my podcast very soon. His reviews are entertaining, informative, and he likes to add a little pizazz to his reviews when he feels so inclined (see movie review The Artist). Plus, he is a great dancer. I have joked that if the Schmoes are to put together Dancing with the YouTube Stars that I would apply and want Chris as my dancing partner. We would certainly clean up!

2. Catherine Reitman – Breakin’ It Down with Catherine Reitman is everything I look for in a lover – consistent, gentle, concise, and fully loaded. I like that she reviews three or more films at a time and can always been seen with a new show on Friday. As if Fridays alone weren’t already awesome – she takes it up to an 11.

I previously reviewed Catherine’s Show and you can read that review by clicking here.

1. Schmoes Know – I am impressed at how often Kristian and Mark are able to upload content day after day. It seems like they have a new review up every other day, which is impressive. While I really enjoy their YouTube channel – I enjoy their podcast even more. In fact, I am going to say that it is my favorite podcast to listen to (and I listen to a lot of podcasts). I’ve said it on the iTunes comments for their podcast and I’m going to say it again here: These guys are smart and charismatic and make you feel like you are part of their conversation on film rather than just a listener. — I can’t recommend their podcast enough. But if you need your movie fix right now – check out their channel because there is always something new and it is always funny.

#08 Mike Carano’s World! Party Time! Excellent!

Mike Carano and I discuss movie cars (or do we?). I kept the beginning outtake in the show because I enjoyed the interaction Mike and I had together. Later, Anderson Cowan interrupts – and we talk about movies that have made an impression on us. *This podcast contains profanity*

#07 Billy Higgins: How to Succeed in Short Films Without Really Trying

If you want to be in films, you’ll need to make a short film. Billy and I discuss his process of making a short film. We jump around to a few different topics including our alma mater (USC), the role of women behind the camera, and what I would do if I were to make a short film.

#06 Anderson Cowan: Interview with a *Vampire (Anderson Cowan *not a vampire)

I interview Anderson Cowan about how he ended up working in radio with Loveline. This podcast contains profanity – FYI.

Very little is spoken about movies in this episode, it is more about Anderson’s background.
